Sophie had absolutely no one to pay attention to her.
In her days of roaming the streets, she was completely alone. She fought tooth and nail to survive the harsh living conditions, and somehow she managed to do it. But, it simply wasn’t enough for a decent life.
Fortunately, she was timely picked up and brought to the city shelter, where the second chapter of her life began. Then, a real heartbreak hit!
Sophie Had Odds Stacked Against Her
She was removed from the street, but Sophie still had a long way to go. Sadly, no one at the overcrowded shelter could see that she wasn’t feeling very good. Underneath her beautiful smile was a severely sick girl needing a quick reaction.
That’s when the good people of Howl Of A Dog came to her aid! They were on a daily mission of saving dogs from city pounds when they spotted Sophie. She immediately captured their attention, so the team brought her to their facility.
However, on Sophie’s routine vet checkup, the team discovered a shocking truth.
“Sophie was a stray dog, captured and taken to the city pound. We were able to rescue her just in time from there because, as we were about to find out during the medical examination, Sophie was severely ill,” the rescue wrote in the heartbreaking video.
The tests revealed that Sophie had heartworms. On top of that, she had a tumor in the back, and not just any. Sophie suffered from a malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor, with survival time typically ranging from four to twenty months
This news left absolutely everyone heartbroken. Sophie was slowly shutting down, yet she never stopped smiling. For the whole time that she’d been with her caregivers, she always had that big, striking smile on her face that made everyone fall in love with her.
She started chemotherapy, and after several sessions, there was still no improvement. Time passed, and she felt worse with every new day.
What Sophie really needed was surgical intervention. And that’s when all the kindness of humanity was put on display! Learning Sophie’s heartbreaking story, so many people reached out to donate the money and help this sweet girl get treated the way she should.
“Thanks to the wonderful people who donated for Sophie, we were able to raise the funds needed for her life-saving surgery,” the rescue wrote.
Miraculously Alive And Thriving
Thanks to Howl Of A Dog’s partner, Tatjana, she was taken to a clinic that agreed to perform the very complex surgery. The whole procedure took several hours, but eventually, Sophie went out with the single greatest news – her tumor was gone!
After all the hardship in life, she finally reached the day in which she didn’t feel any pain anymore. On top of that, she was surrounded by the entire team of people who loved her so much!
“We are immensely grateful to all the amazing people who helped us save Sophie. Thanks to your help, Sophie can now live a happy life,” the rescue added.
After her recovery, Sophie’s life changed – again. She was adopted by a beautiful family who couldn’t wait to welcome her in their home.
Finally, she got her very own home where she could relax and display her incredible personality. And, the good news was that her new momma was a vet, too!
Sophie now lives a happy and carefree life, far away from the street where she was first found. One thing’s for sure. Her bad days are definitely behind, and she now only looks forward!
