Elsa, the stray dog, was found roaming the streets with her buddy, Hugo. She was in need of urgent medical intervention, as she had serious mite infestation.

When people from Ray Animal Rescue approached her to help, she was extremely affectionate and friendly. It was like she knew that they wanted to help her. However, she didnโ€™t want to be rescued for the most selfless reason everโ€ฆ

When the Ray Animal Rescue team first saw her, Elsa, a beautiful female dog, was in terrible condition. She was suffering from a severe mite infestation. Her skin was flaky, irritated, and inflamed, she was constantly scratching, and she had patches all over her body.

They tried to immediately get her into a car and take her to the vet, but she refused to go for the most adorable reason ever. Namely, she was on the streets with her stray dog buddy โ€“ Hugo, and she wanted him to go, too.

After seeing this heartwarming act of kindness, the RAR staff took both Elsa and Hugo to their facility.

โ€œWe immediately got into the car โ€“ both of them did because we couldnโ€™t leave Hugo, of course.โ€

She Got A Foster She Always Needed

Elsa needed 24/7 care during the first couple of months. The staff needed to give her constant baths for two straight months in order to get rid of the mites. This was a slow and kind of high-maintenance process, but the important thing is that Elsa got better.

After some time of being in the RAR facility, she was eating better, had fewer patches on her skin, and started playing more.

Still, she wasnโ€™t exactly accepted by other dogs, as she was extremely big in comparison to the rest of them. Thatโ€™s why the team decided to find her a foster. And, thatโ€™s exactly what they did.

Elsa got a new, nurturing foster home with another doggo buddy. Her foster parents provided nothing but love and utmost care. Even though she was supposed to stay there for only several days, something amazing happenedโ€ฆ

Unlike Elsa, Hugo Got Adopted Quickly

As Hugo was a much smaller dog that didnโ€™t have health issues, he was adopted way before Elsa. She had a few visits by potential candidates, but in the end โ€“ no one wanted her.

In a way, her foster family was glad that there were no serious candidates yet, as they bonded with Elsa very quickly and wanted her to stay with them as much as possible.

When the last family visited to discuss Elsaโ€™s potential adoption, her foster mom was especially upsetโ€ฆ

โ€œWhen a family came to see her, I was really upset and I really cried because I didnโ€™t want her to give her away.โ€

After that visit, she knew that she could no longer be Elsaโ€™s foster parent. She wanted Elsa to stay with themโ€ฆ for good!

After months of searching for her forever home โ€“ Elsa got the best one possible! Her foster family became her permanent family, which makes both sides very happy.

Even though she was the second dog to the family, she adapted amazingly and had a wonderful relationship with all family members.

On the other hand, Elsa developed her social skills in her foster home so beautifully that she enjoyed every time somebody came to visit. In a way, her new family helped her, the naturally introverted dog, grow into a happy, sociable house pet.

Sheโ€™s today the happiest dog alive! She just loves frolicking around with her family members, but thatโ€™s not the only thing she does.

Other than her mini back yard gimmicks, she also walks, goes to the beach, and hangs out with family cats. Thatโ€™s right! She has two purry friends that she loves to take an occasional nap with! She doesnโ€™t even mind being teased or climbed on.
